Cactus X-TTL for Canon is available now

X-TTL for Cactus V6 II is NOW complete

Hong Kong, June 1, 2018 – The last remaining X-TTL firmware version for Canon is NOW available!

Besides retaining the revolutionary cross-brand abilities of remote power control and wireless HSS of Canon, Fujifilm, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Pentax and Sigma flashes simultaneously, the new system-specific X-TTL firmware for Canon adds TTL on-camera and wireless TTL in off-camera setup for Canon flashes.

Wireless E-TTL

The Canon system is unique where only Canon system flashes and Cactus RF60 and RF60X flashes can be triggered by a Canon camera for wireless TTL.

Features at a glance

  1. Cross-brand wireless manual power and zoom control with HSS/FP support of Canon, Fujifilm, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Pentax and Sigma flashes;¹
  2. Wireless E-TTL of Canon and Cactus wireless flashes;²
  3. Two Exposure Locks offer consistency with the convenience of wireless TTL;
  4. Works seamlessly with Cactus RF60X and RF60 to support remote HSS, TTL, as well as power and zoom control.

New Protocol and Upcoming Firmware Releases

Since the release of Pentax X-TTL firmware, a new wireless protocol has been adopted³. To work seamlessly with a Cactus RF60 and RF60X, users should be sure to also update to the latest firmware.

This Canon version is the last leg of X-TTL firmware on the Cactus V6 II. Together with recently released X-TTL firmware for Fujifilm, Sigma and Sony, all X-TTL firmware versions are now running on the new wireless protocol. Next on the list for update is the original V6 (current firmware 2.1.001) and Multi-brand HSS firmware on the V6 II (current firmware 1.1.013) where they will be made to operate on the new protocol in the near future.

To download the latest firmware versions for each of the Cactus devices, get the latest Cactus Firmware Updater to be able to select the latest firmware versions.

Price and Availability

System-specific X-TTL firmware versions are FREE of charge. Download the Cactus Firmware Updater and select the corresponding system firmware to install the Canon X-TTL firmware on the Cactus V6 II.

¹ With the exception of Pentax system flashes due to special timing requirements so it must be paired with a Pentax camera in order to support HSS.

The Cactus LV5 Laser Trigger Combines Laser and Radio Frequency Technology to Fire Your Camera Remotely

Cactus LV5 is a laser trigger that allows you to do high speed photography and wildlife camera traps.DICLASLV5-3Whether you are interested in capturing beautiful water droplets, facial expressions of athletes at the finish line from multiple angles, or wildlife movements caught in the act, the LV5 Laser Trigger can create unforgettable images with ease.

Laser and Radio Trigger  With over a year of research and development, Cactus created a device that is unique in the market: it combined laser and radio frequency  technology in one compact package. Aside from a light stand, tripod and a shutter release cable for your camera, the LV5 is all you need to capture that specific spectacle. Weighing just over 300 grams and requiring only four (4) AAA batteries to power both the LV5 Emitter and Sensor, it is possibly the most versatile laser trigger to date.

Cactus V5, V6/V6II and RF60/RF60X Compatible*  The LV5 is a Class 1 laser device that triggers your camera’s shutter either by direct wired connection or wirelessly via the embedded Cactus RF module. Since the LV5 runs on the same channels as the V5, V6/V6II/V6IIs transceivers and RF60/RF60X flashes, it can also trigger flash units with V5 and V6/V6II/V6IIs transceivers or directly to an RF60/RF60X flash, which is a very convenient method to perform high-speed photography.

*The LV5 will only work with the current wireless protocol, such as FUJ.1.002 and 1.1.013. It will not work with the newer protocols such as the PEN.A.001 and the Olympus OLY.A.001.

Main features of the LV5:

  • Duo Mode Triggering (DMT). Cactus LV5 can be triggered by blocking the transmission between the laser Emitter and Sensor; or removing the object between the laser Emitter and Sensor
  • Works wirelessly with Cactus V5 and subsequent V5-compatible models. Cactus LV5 combines laser and radio frequency (RF) technology in a single device. With a built-in Cactus V5 transceiver module in the Sensor, LV5 allows you to take instant camera photos with an unlimited number of portable flashes, wirelessly!
  • long working distance- The working distance between the laser Emitter and the Sensor is up to 150 meters.
  • Works under sunlight. The LV5 not only works under ambient light, its intelligent design also allows it to work under sunlight.
  • supports single and continuous shots. Supports bulb shot. The LV5 offers endless possibilities for your creative works.
  • Shutter Delay and Freeze: Shutter delay and post- shutter freeze period adjustable in 15 divisions.

Cactus V5 is the perfect companion to the LV5 Laser and Radio Trigger where the photographer wants the LV5 laser transmitter and receiver to be placed away from the camera, transmitting to a V5 on-camera as a remote shutter trigger to fire the camera.

THE CACTUS V5 IS THE BEST SOLUTION FOR A LOW-COST BUT RELIABLE STUDIO OR HOT SHOE FLASH TRIGGER

dicflawftv5d-2.jpgWith a retail price of only $45.00 each or $75.00 for a set of two, the Cactus V5 is the perfect choice for photographers needing a basic, no-frills but reliable flash trigger system. That said, “basic” in this case does not mean low-tech!

The re-engineered and re-designed Cactus Wireless Flash Transceiver V5 (Cactus V5), like its predecessors, remains powerful and reliable, and is ideal for photography of any kind. It sports a new transceiver design and powered by 2 AAA 1.5V batteries. Each Cactus V5 unit can serve as either a wireless flash transmitter or wireless flash receiver. Different transmitter/receiver combinations are now possible, giving photographers unparalleled flexibility and control over their flash setups.

Frequency Self-Tune (FST), a new and groundbreaking feature, enables Cactus V5 to automatically tune itself to its last working frequency when exposed to extreme weather conditions such as a sudden and large temperature change. Not seen in any other solution on the market, FST effectively minimizes “no fires”. Multi-Channel Triggering, another new feature, allows simultaneous triggering of up to four (4) sets of light sources, all controlled through one transmitting unit and camera. This is very useful in situations where multiple sets of flashes normally set to different channels need to be set off together for one or a series of shots.

Other improvements in Cactus V5 include support for any maximum sync speed supported by a camera up to 1/1000s, working frequency of 2.4GHz, effective range up to 100 meters, implementation of a low battery indicator and 16-channel rotary dial for channel selection, and dual hot shoe design to allow concurrent firing of an on-camera flash. Together with the provided PC Sync and 3.5mm cables and 6.25mm plug adapter, photographers may use Cactus V5 with most portable flashes and studio strobes with trigger voltage up to 300V. Each Cactus V5 unit is manufactured using RoHS compliant.
